What is the original image of this?

Lucifer was always the most interesting cat in Christian mythology. Even if he wasn’t really in the source material until Augustine needed to get the big man off the hook.

It’s kind of weird when you look at it. In Islam, they clearly state that he’s being punished for refusing to bow down to humanity (Adam, in this case) because he was like “I’m made of fire and he’s made of mud, bro. WTF.”

So basically God cut him a deal that was basically “Whoever has the most souls at the end wins.”

Sometimes I question aspects of religion. :/

theres also a super interesting (obviously not cool with mainstream folks) sufi interpretation of this as an act of love— that he loved God so much he could not bow down to anything else…. have to find where i was reading about it, it was definitely not a way i thought about this story before

its also always interesting to me that jinn and humans have free will in much of islamic tradition while angels do not…
